MIU MIU SS23: Refrence Of The Past

Continuing from Prada’s Milan showcase, Miu Miu follows suit with its white, gray, and black color palette. Which made me look back on Miu Miu’s spring summer 1999 collection, which was filled with the same color palette and styling with present days simplicity. 

Utility was a major focus this time around for Miu Miu.

The double pouch pockets, which seemed to be a call back to Miu miu’s spring summer 1999 collection, were seen on midi length skirts, paired with cropped sweaters and nylon jackets, as well as worn in leather vests, jackets and shorts.

The sheer dresses paired with colorful thong heeled sandals were a Miu Miu staple seen, as well as the sparkly dresses, and midi skirts layered with a long sleeve sparkly shirt paired with high socks and Miu mius it shoe right now, the loafer.

Also, the continuation of the use of raw hem and cut fabrics seen in the past three seasons is seen here with a cut vest fitted to the body with a pleated skirt tied with nylon on the lower hips as well as the continuation of the pouch pockets. The low rise mini skirt is also seen with its raw hem being revealed as we have seen before in past collections. However, this time around along with the cut fabric the mini skirt is also seen with double pouch pockets, which elevate the mini skirt look even more. In addition to the mini skirt look, the open midriff look is also back, paired with midi skirts and bandeau tops that look to be held by nylon straps and clip buckles. 

With FKA Twigs closing the show in a more toned down ensemble, with a crisp white shirt, navy cable knit sweater paired with a double pouch mini skirt. Overall Miu Miu spring/summer  2023 utility focused collection was perfectly classic and filled perfectly with simplicity.
